My question is connected with poor knowledge of FreeBSD, i think.
Every time I made some changes to /etc/syslog.conf and restart syslogd - all is ok. But when I reboot - all my changes are disappeared. It's a bug or a feature?
p.s. I need to add some string for mpd5 to have a log of it's work.

I've solved my problem by editing /etc/rc.d/syslogd , now my strings are added to syslog.conf by this script.
Is it a only one possible variant?

is there any information out there how to persist settings in /etc/syslog.conf across reboots?
I am trying to setup a syslog server for my pfsense firewall, I managed to add the syslog_flags settings in /etc/rc.conf using the UI, however I cannot persistently add the log destination for my remote server in the config file.
The solution here does not work, since /etc/rc.d/syslogd is rewritten on reboot too

do you use full or embeded?

I have the n4f embedded install (x64 version) on a boot-usb stick (4GB).

you need to define Variable: clog_logdir to point to your data disk.
